A SPECIAL I LOVE FREE SOUVLA AT SHELLHARBOUR
We had a blast at our I LOVE FREE SOUVLA Community Lunch at Zeus Shellharbour last Saturday. Thank you for the warm welcome, we’re feeling the love!
I LOVE FREE SOUVLA events are all about giving back to the community. This time, we partnered with Youth Off The Streets, an organisation with a special connection to our own Zeus community.
Joshua Silkin, one of our awesome Zeus Shellharbour all-rounders, was the 2014 recipient of the Youth Off The Streets University Scholarship. Josh had experienced homelessness during his late teens, moving between living in his car, at youth refuges and staying with friends. It took Joshua years to complete his HSC as he moved through four different high schools in as many years. It wasn’t an easy time, but one thing he did know was that he wanted to go to University to make something of his life.
With the help of Youth Off The Streets, he was granted the tools he needed to drive his own success, which included not only being the first person in his family to go to University, but also being selected to take part in an international exchange. He is now completing his Honours, with a research piece in petroleum exploration. For Joshua, it took a lot of hard work and determination to get him to where he is today but he believes that anything is possible if you take opportunities, work hard, and take nothing for granted.
We’re incredibly proud to support the organisation that helps young people make a positive impact in their own lives. Thanks to the local Shellharbour community, our pita makers gave away over 500 pitas and raised $1316.50 for Youth Off The Streets.
